You can stop at any point
The intake call carries no obligation. If you decide afterward that the timing is wrong or another option is better, that is a perfectly good outcome and it costs you nothing.
How it works
Getting a child evaluated is usually described in vague terms and then takes the better part of a year. Here is the actual sequence, written out, so you can see exactly where you are at any point.
The nine steps
About five minutes. Your contact details, your child’s age, what is prompting the question, your insurance, and whether you need an interpreter. We deliberately do not ask for medical records or a detailed health history at this stage.
You · 5 minutesWithin one business day you hear from a real person by email. Together we find a time that works for you for your free 30-minute call. If you asked for an interpreter, we arrange one before the call.
Us · within one business dayThis is the important one. We ask what you are noticing and what worries you, where your child is in the process already, what your insurance is, and what you hope an evaluation will give you. You leave the call knowing whether we are the right place, and if we are not, where to go instead.
Together · 30 minutes · freeWe contact your plan, confirm your evaluation benefits, and submit any prior authorization it requires. Then we tell you in writing what your expected out-of-pocket cost will be. Nothing is scheduled until you have seen that number and said yes.
Us · 2 to 3 business daysConsent forms, release-of-information forms for anyone you would like us to speak with or send the report to, caregiver questionnaires, and any records you want reviewed. We book your appointments at the same time.
You and us · mostly onlineCaregiver interview, direct assessment with your child, and standardized measures, across two sessions, all by secure video. See what’s included
Together · two sessionsYour clinician walks you through what we found, what it means, and what it does not mean. Bring your partner, a grandparent, or a friend who takes good notes. Ask everything. This is not a five-minute readout of results.
Together · 45 to 60 minutesDelivered within 10 business days, with recommendations you can hand to an insurer, a school team, or a therapy provider. We send copies wherever you have authorized, whether that is your pediatrician, your school district, or a therapy clinic, at no extra charge.
Us · within 10 business daysWe give you a neutral overview of what is available in Missouri and what to look for in a provider. We do not place you anywhere, and we are not paid if you choose one direction over another. Questions about the report later on are always welcome, at no charge. See the resources
You · whenever you are ready
Good to know
The intake call carries no obligation. If you decide afterward that the timing is wrong or another option is better, that is a perfectly good outcome and it costs you nothing.
Tell us on the form and we take care of it for the intake call, the evaluation, and the feedback session. There is no charge, and you should never have to bring a family member to interpret.
Nothing about starting here requires you to give up a place in line elsewhere. Hold both and take whichever comes through first.
You will not be handed between coordinators. You will know who to email, and that person will know your child’s name.
Your report is yours. We release it to any provider, school, or agency you name, and never to anyone you have not authorized in writing.
Regular email is not secure. Share medical specifics on the call or through the secure forms we send, rather than through the website or an email thread.
Complete the form and we send you a scheduling link. The call that follows is free.
